“Men in Black” star Will Smith backs higher taxes…until he hears France’s proposed rate! Rob Houglum LLMedia Tuesday, May 15, 2012
Will Smith has been a vocal advocate of Barack Obama and his plan to increase taxes on the welathy, but during a visit to France he was asked if he would support a 75% taxation rate precisely what's being suggested by new Socialist President of France.
Business Insider explains, "The Hollywood megastar enthusiastically preached the book of paying one's equal share of taxes in a French TV interview this weekend."
"But when questioned about his opinion on the tax policy of French president-elect Franois Hollande, Smith's was startled silly by the recommendation of a 75 % tax level on those earning above 1 million annually," reported BI's Alex Biles.
"I have no issue with Will Smith," Glenn said at the start of the video.
Glenn explained that Smith shares the same opinion as many in Hollywood the rich need to pay more in taxes.
During the interview, Smith responds with a "God Bless America" and a giggle upon hearing President-elect Hollande's suggested rate of 75%.
"You can see the particular shock of that number," Stu said. "( Smith ) is not a tax expert in European economics. It strikes him as surprising as it should strike you."
