Guardian Auto is the most recent company in the auto glass industry to reuse windshields. Customers of 4 of the firm's distribution centres can return damaged windshields to Guardian to be recycled.
"We are excited about our new green initiative," asserts Scott Billings, director of distribution operations for Guardian Auto. "Windshield recycling is a win / win we're doing the honest thing for the environment by keeping windshields out of landfills and we're helping our clients reduce their waste costs."
The company plans to expand the programme to the other 8 distribution centres later this year. The four centres currently participating are Detroit, Cincinnati, Findlay and Atlanta.
"We've received plenty of great feedback from our customers," asserts Billings. "Once we put the new containers out and communicated with our customers, we right away began seeing damaged windshields being returned.".
